So what exactly do you need to know about me? First and foremost I am unashamedly a child of The Father! I am a Christ Follower and that fact will influence my life and what I talk about here at Joy’s Turn.
Next on the list I guess would be my name – Kim. I’m a Midwest girl. Forty-something.
I began dating my husband when I was fifteen years old. I guess you’d say we’ve raised each other into the people we plan to be with forever. We recently celebrated our 24nd wedding anniversary. Living under our roof we have two children, my daughter is 22 and my son is 19; and my one year old grandson – the absolute joy of my heart. I’m pretty proud of my kids, they aren’t perfect (they get that from me) but they’ve turned out to be pretty awesome young adults! We also have two cats (Cleopatra & Kasey) and one Jack Russell Terrier, named Trevor.
I want to be honest and share my struggles and victories as I work at reclaiming the life God intended us to live; a life of joy. Now don’t get me wrong, a life of joy doesn’t mean an easy life full of material things and fun all the time. No, a life of TRUE joy can only come from a life in balance, focusing on God and on the things that are truly of lasting importance.
What else do you need to know? Let’s see….. Well, I deal with most things with a sense of humor, more like sarcastic humor I guess. In 2010 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue. I walked away from a career I enjoyed to focus on health and family so now I am a stay-at-home-grandma. I love all things organization and can’t get enough of pintrest or websites on the topic but you wouldn’t think that from the looks of my house. I like to think of myself as a perfectionist, and if I can’t have it perfect I don’t bother. (I like that much better than saying I’m not the best housekeeper around.) I’m trying to break my addiction to coke; cola that is. I hog all the pillows on the bed. (Seriously, one night in my sleep, I reached over and ripped the only one my husband had right out from under his head!) Since leaving my parents home upon getting married I’ve lived in eight different places. I get motion sickness easily. I love cookie dough and my favorite color is purple.
Oh yeah, and my middle name is Joy. So the blog’s title is a bit of a play on words. Now as for it being my middle name, my mom says they gave me the middle name of Joy because they “thought” I’d be a bundle of joy. She always emphasizes the word “thought” when she says it too. Hmmmmm? Wonder what she means by that. 😉
